First Day at Nursery

Leaving your child at nursery is a big step, we aim to ease this process by having taster sessions where your child joins the group getting to know the other children and you spend some quality time getting to know your child’s key person.

At this meeting there will unfortunately be some paperwork to complete. We shall also run through the terms and conditions allowing you to clarify and discuss them.

Most importantly you will tell us all about your child and complete the “Parent Story” this gives the key person everything they need to know to start your child’s learning journey with us.

You will receive:

  • A folder containing a Parent Information booklet.
  • A guide to our key policies
  • A guide to our payment system and invoice dates
  • Your copy of the terms and conditions
  • A welcome guide.

You will need to complete:

  • Consent forms
  • Allergy declaration
  • Parent Story

On your child’s first day we ask that you bring them at 9.30am or 2pm to ensure their group is settled into their allocated room. This allows the key person to spend quality time with you and your child as this day can be upsetting for both of you.

We endeavour to make the transition as smooth as possible and appreciate your co-operation. We do request that your child brings with them a named bag, with named spare clothes for those little accidents that may occur and a named coat to stop any confusion.

You are welcome to stay as long as you need, but you should not feel guilty if you want to make a quick getaway. However, we do not advise that you “sneak” away when they are distracted as this can be very upsetting for children.

We suggest that when you leave you give them a hug and a kiss and reassure them that you will be back later.
